What we confess.

Faith Lutheran is a congregation of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. We hold the Scriptures as God's inerrant Word, and the historic Lutheran Confessions as a faithful exposition of that Word.

The heart of it

We believe in the Triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - who made us, who loves us, and who has come to redeem us in Jesus Christ. We believe Scripture is God's Word, true in every part, given for our salvation and our life.

We believe salvation is God's free gift - received through faith in Jesus, not earned by what we do. And we believe God gathers His people around His Word and Sacraments, where He continues to forgive, strengthen, and keep us to eternal life.

The Nicene and The Apostles’ Creed

The ancient confessions of the Christian Church, confessed every Sunday in our services:

The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only‐begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Sacraments

We celebrate Holy Baptism as God's washing - the gift by which He claims people of every age as His own and brings them into the family of the Church.

We celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday, believing that in, with, and under the bread and wine we receive the true body and blood of Christ for the forgiveness of sins.

The Lutheran Confessions

Along with Scripture, we hold to the confessions collected in the Book of Concord (1580) - the Small and Large Catechisms of Martin Luther, the Augsburg Confession, the Apology, the Smalcald Articles, and the Formula of Concord - as a true and faithful exposition of God's Word.

Our synod

Faith Lutheran is a member congregation of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS), a fellowship of confessional Lutheran congregations across North America and in mission around the world.
